Field Trainings.

After the training of trainers in Mukono ARDC, the regional coordinators and extension workers have begun to reach out to farmers to train them in the growing and harvesting of vanilla in order to ensure quality and increased supply.

About the association

The Association of Vanilla Exporters of Uganda (VANEX) brings together Vanilla Exporters in Uganda under one umbrella in order to promote the production of vanilla in Uganda for the long term benefit of the Ugandan vanilla industry. It also seeks to promote the sale of Ugandan vanilla worldwide. It was established in 2004 and is made up of the most prominent vanilla exporting companies in Uganda.

Establishment

Vanex was established by the prominent vanilla exporting companies in Uganda which include; UVAN Ltd, UCIL Ltd, ESCO (U) Ltd, and was also joined by companies which include; Buiga Farm Industries and Landways Agencies Ltd among others. The association was launched on 2nd December 2004 by members from USAID, APEP, International vanilla buyers and VANEX.

Membership

Vanex membership is open to all vanilla processors, exporters, farmers and all stakeholders in the industry.

Activities carried out by vanex

The association was formed with a goal to develop a nation wide programme for quality and reliability. It is therefore operating in over 20 districts has 8 regional coordinators and 60 extension workers.VANEX obtains fund from USAID and APEP to conduct trainings and extension services through the 60 demonstration plots and Radio programs.
